Fejan – in the heart of Roslagen

Fejan har en sällsam historia, kantad av krig, sjukdom – och sång. During the 19th century, in the middle of a devastating cholera epidemic, Fejan became a quarantine station.

Among the patients were members of the musical group Orphei Drängar who were placed in isolation on the island while returning from a concert for the Russian Tsar. Today, the buildings are mainly private summer cottages, with the exception of the former quarantine station, which is owned by The Archipelago Foundation.

The old hospital and lovely doctors residence have been renovated and turned into an attractive hostel, while the boat house and former mortuary is now a welcoming archipelago inn, next to a very popular guest harbour.
